The M193 round is regarded as the first military 5.56 cartridge. It was initially created in 1964 for the M16 while the round’s official designation was still “.223 Remington.” A 55-grain bullet with a full metal jacket and nothing extra concealed inside is propelled by it. No fancy steel cores or other effects, no markings on the bullet or casing.
The case mouth and primer are both sealed to keep out moisture, which is a crucial component of any military ammunition. The slower twist rate barrel is preferred by this lighter-grain round.
