Linked ammunition refers to belted or connected rounds designed for use in automatic and crew-served firearms systems. Instead of storing individual cartridges loose, linked ammunition uses metal or fabric links to hold rounds together in a continuous belt for reliable feeding in machine guns and automatic weapons platforms.

How Linked Ammunition Works

Each round in a linked belt is held in place by a small link that can be disintegrating or non-disintegrating depending on the system. As the firearm cycles, rounds are fed into the chamber in sequence, and links are ejected or separated during firing.
